Spill the Beans with You 'til Dawn STORY

How to see the Stones Play 3 Times for One Show AND Spill the Drinks an’ Hors d’oeuvres and Beans till Dawn.

So here we are back to enjoy the Stones at MSG for my umpteenth time, this time with an unique VIP package purchased that got ya invited to a private party room inside Madison Square Garden, prior to the show. I bought 2 tickets and invited my friend Dave “chokester” Harris. If you are familiar with the older or “middle-aged” MSG and the front entrance off of the street, basically ya walked in off of the street and had to go either right or left & use steps or an escalator. Our package told us to enter right of the right escalators and go through a private glass door. At the 1st glass door, they were letting 1 or 2 only in at a time, super checking credentials ID, then ya had to wait in another holding area, geez a lotta down and wasted time. Till they actually let ya on an elevator . . . and . . .

Finally into the private party room, where about 50-ish fans hanging out, Stones music playing, a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres being handed around, very cooperate like, but still very very nice. I have done a handful of these and trade shows at MSG, so you maybe surprised at all the “nook & crannies” rooms walkways entrances & exits MSG has around its perimeter and on different levels. Anyway due to all the waiting it was now a mad rush to get a drink(s) eats and rush to the show. Me & Dave allowed most everyone to do the helter skelter rush drinking eating and getting to their seats. Opening Act or No Opening Act was still a scramble. We had little concern over getting to our seats, as we had zero interest in the opening act, plus we were thirsty and comfortable LOL.

So as the party thinned out to only a few of us final few stragglers left, we ended up now hanging mostly with MSG personnel, MSG Security and the staff, in which someone brought up the question what happens after the show? . . . They said, they weren’t really sure? . . . BUT . . . they think that it was part of the deal, that if anyone wanted to come back, to keep the party going until the food & booze was finished, they would accommodate and oblige us. Well, that was not laid out “that” clearly in the VIP Package, just that you had access to this VIP party room bar. They now escorted us over and how to take some VIP elevator down to the floor level and we said OK thanks a bunch and then, maybe see ya after the show.

This Stones Show was killer as always, which brings me to my well used coined quote “On a scale of 1 to 10 how do ya rate a Live Stones Show” ” . . . a 12, or a 13 of course . . . “, but in New York City make that a 15”. . . This 15 Rated Rolling Stones Show ends, LOL we luckily don’t get cattle herded with the crowd out the door, but slide our way thru and over to the same private entrance / exit back to the private elevator, security lets us pass at all the stops, back to the same private room, except now . . . there were only about 10 or so fans who made it back, with the much easier to get drinks, hors d’oeuvre crumbs, but it was really super quiet, low key, looks like it all was winding down, the cleaning off of tables, folding up chairs & pretty much one night cap & finite . . . until they dimmed the lights . . . . NOW they put up on the Large TV at the end of the room, what was to be The Full FULL Replay Closed Circuit Internal MSG Recording of the Stones (Stones from first note no opening act again 😊) of the Concert. This was before You Tube. Before Concert Video's. Before DVD Releases. What a Kick. Déjà vu All Over Again. Blow the Room Up VOLUME. NOW that sure changed the mood in the room No One is cleaning up at all LOL. Drinks flyin away on 7th Avenue, Shmatta Shmatta continued on, but as the video concert was winding down, even before the Re-Encores, most of the remaining guests except us had worn out & already left, hell it was probably 3 ish in the AM on a school night. Can’t really blame them.

BUT NOT US. We hung out to till lights came back on to the end, of course. Why not, the bar was still open. 😊 all the VIP package fans were now gone and to all was a very good night.

NOT SO FAST. . . NOW . . . coming out from behind the scenes, are the kitchen crew, the super clean up crew, the maintenance crew, the super graveyard shift of employees and guess what they want to do? Watch the Stones on Closed Circuit TV ! . . . So we are all here RE setting up the video and RE RE watching the replay of the Stones show, us for a second time with all the inner working employees of MSG. And they were true to their word that they would stay open till all the food and liquor was gone which ended up being us spilling the beans with them till Dawn. The Stones turn it up notches when they play MSG and MSG in return turned it up notches on this party.

THE STONES TIMES 3.

NOW comes the tricky part, how do we get home? No Trains run at this hour? The MSG folk send us out some maintenance exit side door like a Thief in the Night ( I Mean Dawn ), who knows what street we are going to get spit out on, but it looks like 31st. Low & Behold it’s the crack of dawn, pouring rain, not a soul on the street, except for one Lincoln Town car (car service) with some guy sleeping in it. Maybe we can bum a gypsy car service ride for some cash . . . HEY . . . that’s my car service !!! There is no way I thought he would wait 5 hours and to be on 31st street, what a lottery ticket this is. An hour ride home of spilling more of the beans till dawn. on seeing the Stones play Rinse & Repeat - and RE Rinse & RE Repeat Again.
