Strawberries and Champagne Madison Square Garden DONT YA WANNA "RE" LIVE WITH ME STORY Strawberries and Champagne Madison Square Garden – We all know about Champagne & Reefer Blues tune covered by the Stones. . . but this is definitely Strawberries and Champagne, the real deal, not any cover. I don’t recall the actual show as the Stones were doing so many MSG shows ( until I did some research and found out it was probably 1999 ) The Stones at about this point in time held the record for most concerts at MSG or was battling with Elton John. So there was alot shows to choose from. Billy Joel was in a distant 3rd place at the time, but now he blows them both away cuz he plays every year or bops over from Long Island even when not on tour and plays a couple times at any moment. Anyway my recollection for what the actual show was is a little hazy, I believe it was 1998 or 1999. What happened was, totally unannounced and just for the first 8 maybe 10 rows, waitresses came out and handed out flutes of Champagne with strawberries. We were in row 4. Super kool super impressive. I still don’t know if it was the Stones idea, MSG’s idea or both, the Garden even opened up a VIP bathroom to the left of the stage where tables of pre poured champagne glasses with and without strawberries were. Help yer self, plus access to the private bathroom area on the side of the stage. What a treat for me, pissin and drinking bubbles with zero lines, but my gal guest thought this happens all the time in the Stones Front Row(s) Sections, as it was her 1st time on the floor at the Worlds Most Famous arena which was now Worlds Most Bubbliest arena for us and 100 others that special night. What a Beautiful Buzz ... What a Beautiful Buzz ... What a Beautiful Champagne Buzz . . . Along with a NYC MSG Killer Stones Show I still dont know who to thank.
