A Ford Dealer in Dalton, GA admitted his dealership failed to purchase a "Hole in One" insurance policy and he's reneging on the dealership's offer
to give away a 2010 Ford Focus. To make the matter worse, the golf event that featured the 2010 Focus as a potential prize was a church fundraiser.
I see the ads for "Hole in One" insurance in Automotive News - I wonder how much the average policy costs? Concerning the dealer, my bet is he'd lose
in court and it would probably be a lot cheaper just to step-up and give the 2010 Focus away.

Insurance for a Focus with 100 golfers would be around $500 at the most.

In my experience, it's considerably cheaper than that. We have insured many Sebring Convts, Wranglers, 300s over the years. Depending on the distance of the hole the cost varies but we've never paid more than $300 for ins.

The segment that aired on TV was three minutes long - that's a ton of time for the local TV News.
The fact the dealer tried to blame the church and then offered the winner $500 to go away just made the situation worse. Hell, he even threw his own people under the bus for releasing the Focus to be displayed.
In my opinion it's time for the dealer to "man-up" and take responsibility for the mistakes and make the winner whole. |
